Environmental Education

BEACON offers several environmental education enrichment clubs with the goals of 1) helping local youth become responsible stewards and citizens through place-based understanding of our environment; 2) Using nature as a classroom to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities that expose students to new ideas and career pathways; 3) working to foster growth, emotional well-being, and resiliency in youth through discovery and exploration in the outdoors.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

This is a program housed within the BEACON Afterschool Program and takes place specifically under the Elementary Program. Students can participate in the Student Leadership club, where they learn about and practice leadership skills such as communication, reflection and decision making. After participating in this club, elementary students in grades 5 and 6 can sign up to participate as student leaders in clubs for younger students (grades 1 and 2). Middle school students may participate as student leaders in clubs for grades 3, 4 and 5.
